Massage Services Milton Keynes

Carolyn has been trained in various forms of massage, and has been working as a therapist since 2006. After consultation, the best type of massage therapy will be discussed to achieve the best results for each individual. The EMS pads can also be used before or after massage. Please see the 'EMS pain relief' page.

Before a massage, a full consultation will be taken to discuss any injuries, medical history or other conditions.

Deep and Soft Tissue Massage

This is the most common and best-known type of massage. If it's your first time or you don't get massage often, Deep and Soft Tissue massage is the best place to start. This massage can be applied to various areas of the back, neck and shoulder areas and is the combination of many different techniques rolled into one session. During this therapy session Carolyn will work with the soft tissues, utilizing different pressure on the muscles in order to help restore balance and health. This massage is ideal for anyone who is overly worked and stressed, and will relax the body and mind. It can be both relaxing and energising. It may also help after an injury.

Hot Stones Massage

This massage therapy eases muscle stiffness and increases circulation and metabolism. The heat promotes deeper muscle relaxation, as the heat penetrates through the muscle layers through the placement of smooth, heated stones at key points on the body. Various levels of pressure will be used to target muscle stiffness. Combining hot stone protocols provides a very healing and effective experience. The hot stones also expand blood vessels, which encourages blood flow throughout the body. This can relieve pain and tension created by strained and contracted muscles and increase flexibility in the joints.

Pregnancy Massage

Carolyn is trained and certified in pregnancy massage. Pregnancy is a special time, however, as your body changes, it can bring about many aches and pains, especially in the latter stages. Massage can be a natural way of easing these ailments. There are huge benefits for massage at this time.

For example, during the latter stages of pregnancy, circulation is working twice as hard which can bring about leg cramps, oedema and other issues which can be relieved in massage. Another area is that the digestive system becomes sluggish which may cause constipation and heartburn, massage can help with this discomfort. Stress can increase heartburn so massage eases away tension and anxiety.

As your baby and your uterus grow, it can also compress the sciatic nerve and women may also experience sciatic pain down the back of the thigh, lower part of the leg and the sole of the foot. Gentle massage can help bring relief by releasing the nerve.

Ligaments and joints are being softened by the production of hormones which can be very debilitating. Massage can assist in helping realise oxytocin and endorphins to relive discomfort and pain. Stretch marks can also start to develop and the skin becomes tight, therefore using a good nourishing oil can bring about many benefits. There are many other benefits, but these listed are just some of the areas where massage can help.
